SOUTH DAKOTA FACTS:

The only venomous snake native to South Dakota is the Prairie Rattlesnake.

THE BOARD CONSISTS OF FIVE MEMBERS

Pennington County is divided into three units.

Unit 1 - Highway 79 west to the Wyoming border
Unit 2 - Highway 79 east to the Cheyenne River
Unit 3 - Cheyenne River east to the Pennington County line

Each unit has a representative on the Weed Board. Also, by state law, any county having a first or second class municipality with a population of five thousand or more (Rapid City), shall have at least one Weed Board member appointed or elected from within the municipality. State law also requires that one county commissioner serve on the Weed Board.
