PENNINGTON COUNTY 
                          BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS MINUTES
                                   June 11, 2008

A special meeting of the Pennington County Board of Commissioners was held on Wednesday, 
June 11, 2008, in the Commissioners' meeting room of the Pennington County Courthouse.  
Chairperson Brenda Young called the meeting to order at 10:30 a.m. with the following 
Commissioners present:  Gale Holbrook, Ethan Schmidt and Nancy Trautman.

RESOLUTION FOR DISASTER DECLARATION

MOVED by Holbrook and seconded by Schmidt to approve the Declaration of Disaster and 
authorize the Chairperson’s signature thereto.  SUBSTITUTE MOTION:  MOVED by Schmidt 
and seconded by Trautman to approve the Declaration of Disaster as previously read, amending 
the date of the severe weather to include the period of May 22, 2008, through June 3, 2008, and 
further moved to authorize the Chairperson’s signature thereto.  Vote:  Unanimous. 

DECLARATION OF DISASTER

WHEREAS Pennington County, South Dakota has suffered severe damage, brought on by severe 
storms from May, 22, 2008 through June 3, 2008; and

WHEREAS Pennington County has committed all available resources and taken all possible 
actions within the jurisdictional boundaries to combat and to alleviate the disaster, local 
resources are not adequate to cope with the situation. 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Pennington County Board of Commissioners 
at a special meeting held on June 11, 2008, it is hereby requested that the Governor declare a 
disaster to exist in the County of Pennington.

Adopted this 11th day of June, 2008.
