MOSQUITO MANAGEMENT/WNV ADVISORY

Pennington County Weed & Pest mosquito trap counts have indicated a recent rise in the 
Culex Tarsalis mosquito population.   

The Culex Tarsalis species is the most common mosquito found in South Dakota to carry 
the west nile virus vector.  With the increase in the Culex Tarsalis mosquito population, 
so does the risk of West Nile Virus transmission to humans.

PenningtonCountycrews will be adulticiding between dusk and dawn on selected county roads 
when conditions are favorable for adult mosquito control.

Pennington County wants to remind the public of the importance of wearing proper clothing 
and insect repellent during outdoor activities particularly between dusk and dawn.
