Contact the Highway Dept

The Pennington County Highway Department is responsible for 845 miles of road and 140 bridges. In addition to routine repair and maintenance, this responsibility includes snow removal operations and major reconstruction projects. The Highway Superintendent administers this service with a workforce of 50 employees under the direction of the Pennington County Board of Commissioners.

Major Transportation Plan

In conjunction with the South Dakota Department of Transportation (SDDOT), Pennington County recognized the need to establish baseline conditions and plan for future transportation improvements for the local area.  A study was completed by Felsburg, Holt & Ullevig (FHU), and the final report for the plan portion of the study is complete and available online at Pennington County Master Transportation Plan.
